Amen.<\/strong><br><br><strong>Psalm 95<\/strong><em>A Call to Worship and Obedience <\/em>(may\nbe read responsively)<br><sup>1&nbsp;<\/sup>O come, let us sing to the&nbsp;Lord;<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our\nsalvation!<br><sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>Let us come into his presence\nwith thanksgiving;<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!<br><sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>For the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;is a\ngreat God,<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and a great King above all gods.<br><sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>In his hand are the depths of\nthe earth;<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the heights of the mountains are his also.<br><sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>The sea is his, for he made it,<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the dry land, which his hands have formed.<br><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>O come, let us worship and bow\ndown,<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;let us kneel before the&nbsp;Lord, our Maker!<br><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>For he is our God,<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and we are the people of his pasture,<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the sheep of his hand.<br><br>\nLeader: Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the\nprophets,<br><strong>All: but in these last days\nGod has spoken to us by his Son.<\/strong><br><br>\nThe Holy Gospel according to Mark, the 4th chapter:&nbsp;<br><strong>Mark 4:35-41&nbsp;<\/strong><em>New International Version (NIV)<\/em><br><em>Jesus Calms the Storm<\/em><br><sup>35&nbsp;<\/sup>That day when evening came, he said to his\ndisciples,&nbsp;\u201cLet us go over to the other side.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>36&nbsp;<\/sup>Leaving\nthe crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat.&nbsp;There\nwere also other boats with him.&nbsp;<sup>37&nbsp;<\/sup>A furious squall came\nup, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.&nbsp;<sup>38&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus\nwas in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to\nhim, \u201cTeacher, don\u2019t you care if we drown?\u201d<br><sup>39&nbsp;<\/sup>He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the\nwaves,&nbsp;\u201cQuiet! Be still!\u201d&nbsp;Then the wind died down and it was\ncompletely calm.<br><sup>40&nbsp;<\/sup>He said to his disciples,&nbsp;\u201cWhy are you so afraid? Do\nyou still have no faith?\u201d<br><sup>41&nbsp;<\/sup>They were terrified and asked each other, \u201cWho is this? Even\nthe wind and the waves obey him!\u201d<br>\nThis is the Gospel of the Lord.&nbsp; <strong>Thanks be\nto God!<\/strong><br><br>\nQuestions for discussion:<br>\n1. When have you felt as though storms were raging all around you?<br><br>\n2. When is a time when you have felt Jesus with you in the middle of trouble?<br><br>\n3. How might Jesus be with us and keep us safe in this turbulent time?<br><br>\nLet us pray.<br>\nMerciful God of might, renew this weary world, heal the hurts of all your\nchildren, and bring about your peace for all in Christ Jesus, the living Lord.<br>\nEspecially we pray\u2014<br>\nfor those who govern nations of the world&nbsp;.&nbsp;.&nbsp;.<br>\nfor the people in countries ravaged by strife or warfare&nbsp;.&nbsp;.&nbsp;.<br>\nfor all who work for peace and international harmony&nbsp;.&nbsp;.&nbsp;.<br>\nfor all who strive to save the earth from carelessness and\ndestruction&nbsp;.&nbsp;.&nbsp;.<br>\nfor the church of Jesus Christ in every land&nbsp;.&nbsp;.&nbsp;.<br><br>\nO God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the\nending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go\nout with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is\nleading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.<br><strong>Amen.<\/strong><br><br>\nAlmighty and everlasting God, you have brought us in safety to this new day.\nPreserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor be\novercome in adversity. In all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your\npurpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord.<br><strong>Amen.<\/strong><br><br><strong>LORD\u2019S PRAYER<\/strong><br><strong>All: Our Father, who art in\nheaven,<\/strong><br><strong>hallowed be thy name,<\/strong><br><strong>thy kingdom come,<\/strong><br><strong>thy will be done,<\/strong><br><strong>on earth as it is in heaven.<\/strong><br><strong>Give us this day our daily\nbread;<\/strong><br><strong>and forgive us our\ntrespasses,<\/strong><br><strong>as we forgive those<\/strong><br><strong>who trespass against us;<\/strong><br><strong>and lead us not into\ntemptation,<\/strong><br><strong>but deliver us from evil.<\/strong><br><strong>For thine is the kingdom,<\/strong><br><strong>and the power, and the\nglory,<\/strong><br><strong>forever and ever.
