This Sunday is Rally Day—the first day of Sunday School for the new school year. It will be a “God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday.” The Sunday School hour will begin in the sanctuary at 9 AM. The youth will hear a heartwarming story about a fancy china teacup that ends up in a thrift store after getting chipped. Rescued by a friendly man, the teacup gets to help the homeless and learns a valuable lesson about giving to others in the process. The book, Charles T. Cup by Dalen Keys, supports what the ELCA is encouraging us to do with the “God’s Work, Our Hands” theme. The Welcome Church in Philadelphia is in constant need of adult socks, especially large ones for males. The youth will package the socks with handmade cards that will be taken to The Welcome Church to be distributed by Rev. Little. In addition, youth will be assembling breakfast bags for Aid for Friends and packaging homemade trail mix for The Welcome Church. Parents are encouraged to participate too. Regular Sunday School classes will begin Sunday, September 20.
Hope to see you there.
